The registration of a computer program (or software registration) has by nature the protection regime delimited by copyright law, having as its purpose the protection of organized instructions and commands, defined in a computer language to be executed in order to obtain a certain result.

 

The protection of the computer program occurs through a registration with the National Institute of Industrial Property (BPTO) and whose validity extends up to 50 years from its publication or creation. This is an important way of protecting the essential elements that make up the characterization of the computer program, considering that, as a rule, it cannot be protected by patents.
