Brazil is a signatory of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CDB), whose objective is the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising from its use, recognizing the associated traditional knowledge. The granting of patent applications obtained from access to the National Genetic Heritage (PG) or Associated Traditional Knowledge (CTA) is conditional on the registration or access authorization obtained from the Genetic Heritage Management Council (CGEN).
